The Board Overall
The Northstar is a mid-size board at 10’6” long and 32” wide. The wide platform of the board has been optimized for every level of rider and all water conditions. The increased thickness of the board at 6-inches keeps it high and flex-free above the water. The Northstar can also hold up to 275-pounds, enough for large riders, tall riders even four-legged friends can join.

The Board: On the Inside
Each and every High Society iSUP goes through their meticulous multi-step finishing process for an error-free finish. The Northstar has a drop stitch core encased in military grade PVC. The rails are reinforced for a board so rigid you would think its fiberglass. The top deck is covered in a soft diamond grooved EVA foam for added grip and security even on the wettest days. In the center of the top deck you will find the soft carrying handle for easy transport, the handle lies flat and out of the way when you want to lie back and drift away. The nose of the board holds the 4-point bungee system for securing a cooler of snacks or dry packs to bring along with you. The space between the bungee and deck pad leaves just enough room for a small rider or a passenger with paws. At the tail of the board we see the inflation valve and stainless-steel D-ring leash point. The leash connect point can also be used for tethering and towing your board. Moving to the underside of the board, the tri-fin setup features a removable center fin with a thumb-screw and two pliable integrated side fins. The removable fin comes in handy in shallow waters and is easy enough to attach when you’re back out in the deep end.
The Whole Package
High Society provides the ultimate accessory package complete with everything a first-time rider needs to get on the water. A travel backpack features mesh sides for extra ventilation and reduced weight with enough room inside to hold all of your gear.
A dual-action pump is also included along with an ultra-lightweight two-piece paddle, coiled ankle leash and repair kit. This kit is truly a compact version of all of your favorite gear.
Setup and Performance
The center of the Northstar is wide enough for beginners to get their bearings and not so wide that it feels bulky and hard to control. The board feels strong under your feet and is easy to get the hang of maneuvering. The Northstar glides fast on the water and covers a larger distance in less time, this fun little ripper can help you practice your lap times or take you on a lazy ride down the river. From one extreme to the next the Northstar can take a challenge. SUP yoga is easily done on the extra wide base and the deck pad help you hold your poses even on the water. The boards shape also aids in maximum stroke efficiency; less energy is wasted trying to steer straight so you can keep your eyes on the horizon while getting into a good stroke rhythm.
The Highs and the Lows
From the rugged graphics to its bombproof build there isn’t much you can’t love about the Northstar from High Society. There is just enough of everything you need sprinkled about the board without being excessive. The only thing we found to be missing was grab handles; having one at either or both the nose and tail of the board make it easier for pulling in and out of the water.
